My name is Aarohi Sonar. I am a 6th grader in Larson Middle School, and this is my 3rd year doing robotics. My interests are drawing, robotics, and playing my instrument. On Girl Botz, I have been a coder. Aside from robotics, I participate in other events. For example, I am a HOSA member this year and I’m very excited to start. I have also been a swimmer at USSC for almost a year. I also do traditional Indian dance- Kathak. I really like traveling too, we do lots of road trips. Our longest road trip was to Yellowstone national park in Wyoming. Sometimes me and my parents go to India to visit family and friends. |

My name is Alissa Mutia. I’m a 7th grader at St. Lawrence. Some things I like to do are play the piano, sing, draw, read, and swim. In my school, I do Science Olympiad, GSFL, and choir. This is my first year in a robotics team. When I was young, I had taken a few robotics classes, so I was already introduced to robotics. Hi! I’m Anwi Gopi, I'm a 6th grader who believes in making a difference—not just as an individual, but by being part of a caring and supportive community. I’ve been part of my school’s Robotics team since 3rd grade, inspired by watching my older brother and the amazing teamwork I saw around me. From helping create logos to participating in outreach events, I love being involved in every part of the process. What really inspired me was seeing how everyone worked together—not just to build robots, but to support each other and make a real impact. One of my biggest inspirations is the Girl Botz team. Their dedication to technical excellence, helping others, and giving back to the community showed me that robotics is about more than just machines—it’s about building connections, too. Outside of robotics, I enjoy singing, doing gymnastics, and creating art. Whether I’m performing, designing, or helping out, I always try to bring kindness, enthusiasm, and a true team spirit to everything I do. |

Hi! My name is Jasmyra. I joined Girl Botz in spring 2026. I am 11 & currently in 5th grade. My favorite part of robotics is driving the robot. My favorite colors are teal and lavender. My name is Jianna Cruz. This is my 4th year in robotics. I have been a builder for 4 years on Girl Botz and I enjoy it very much. Over the years I learn new things, not just what to build and how to build a robot, but also with people. Outside of robotics I play for 3 lacrosse teams, a travel soccer team, track and I play the violin. Every now and then I like to build legos, edit videos, and do my own nails. In my free time I like to play video games and watch my favorite YouTube channels. Also I always look forward to family trips to FL when we go to Disney World or other places in the USA. |

My name is Keerthana Chandra. This is my 4th year in robotics, and I am part of the software team. I’m very passionate about coding and love being involved in creating and improving our robot’s programs. Throughout my time in robotics, I’ve learned so much about teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity through our competitions, outreaches, and working together at practice. Outside of robotics, I enjoy writing as the editor of my school newspaper, participating in activities like Science Fair, Model UN, and Teen Court—a program where teens take on court roles to solve actual cases involving minors. I also enjoy staying active through lacrosse and dance, and I love reading in my free time. |

My name is Kora Locke. I have been dreaming of joining robotics ever since I saw my first robot when I was 7 at Troy Daze. I am in the 6th grade. This is my first year in robotics and I am super excited to be a part of this team!! I am learning how to code in Java, which my Dad teaches to the team, and to do CAD design in SOLIDWORKS which Coach Varun teaches. Outside of robotics I have been playing the piano for 3 years, am a member of the Girl Scouts, and on the Broadcasting Club at school. I am teaching myself how to ride a skateboard and make movies in Flipaclip. My ultimate goal is to learn everything that I can with the Girl Botz and apply that knowledge in the future. |

Hello. I’m Merril Sanchez, and I am an eighth grader in St Lawrence. I’m part of the Science Olympiad, Forensics, and softball in my school. I enjoy playing guitar and doing crafts in my free time. I joined Girlbotz in seventh grade and was part of the coding team for that year. I participated in the Chicago Robotics Invitational with the Girlbotz team in August 2025. We competed with teams from all over the country and around the world. It was amazing getting to meet new people who are passionate about robotics and hear about their stories and their journey to the competition. That was one of the most fun experiences I had, and I hope to be in another competition like that one again. I hope I can be of help this year to the team and go to as many competitions as we can and learn more about engineering and robotics. |

My name is Preitisha Mitra, and I am 11 years old, living in Troy, Michigan. I am currently a 5th-grade student at Hill Elementary School. This is my second year participating in Robotics. Last year, my team won the Robot Design award at the FLL competition. Beyond academics, I enjoy building LEGO creations, playing in the Troy Soccer League, and competing in chess. I also play the piano and am currently at Trinity Level 2. In addition, I volunteer with Humble Beginnings of Michigan, a non-profit organization that helps furnish homes for underprivileged families. To support their mission, I developed a mobile app that makes it easier for donors to contribute items they no longer need, helping them reach people in need more efficiently. |

My name is Rosemary. I'm a 7th grader at St. Lawrence Catholic School and this is my first year in Robotics. In my school I'm part of the Science Olympiad, Forensics, and GSFL. Outside of school I'm part of Circle of Friends, a middle school girls group at St. George Chaldean Catholic Church. I enjoy reading and building legos. I am a huge Harry Potter fan and have a large HP lego collection. On Girl Botz, I hope to learn Java Coding and help with building the robot for our competitions. I enjoy doing all the outreach projecs as it shows Girl Botz is not only about Robotics but also about giving back to the community. This learning experience and the skills I will gain will help me with my future goals and accomplishments. |

My name is Haneul Kim. This is my 3rd year in robotics. I have been in the software team for 3 years, and I enjoy it. Over time, I have learned valuable skills throughout our team's journey. Even though I am very passionate about robotics, I have a few hobbies outside of robotics. I have swam for USSC for about a year, and I also participate in track and cross country. As a viola player, I am in Oakland Youth Orchestra as well as the school orchestra. I like to read or take a walk during my free time and watch my favorite shows. Traveling is one of my favorite things to do over breaks. I visit South Korea every summer to meet my family and friends as it is my origin. |

My name is Ed Bunao. I have been a robotics dad and parent volunteer since 2016, and this is my 7th season as an FTC coach. I am the co-founder of the first all-girls robotics team at Larson Middle School – Girl Botz FTC 22918.
I’m also a clinical scientist by profession.
As a child, I was fascinated by building things and had a strong inclination toward math and science.
I believe that robotics teams should be student-led. While I offer guidance and advice, I encourage students to take the lead, work through challenges, and find solutions on their own.
I strongly support assigning leadership roles to each team member, allowing them to take full ownership and accountability for their work, goals, and priorities.
I believe students can grow and improve through experience, including learning from their mistakes.
Team dynamics are also very important to me. I promote team-building activities such as educational outings, fundraising events, and opportunities for continued learning—all while giving back to the community.
I value a healthy balance between serious work and fun, with a strong winning mindset!
Outside robotics, I enjoy biking, swimming and traveling. I am a huge sports fan and is a volunteer at my kids’ schools from
Marching band, science olympiad, athletic boosters and school organizations. I enjoy cooking every day and loves playing drums.
I look forward to continuing as one of the founders and lead coach of these talented young women engineers and problem solvers of the Girl Botz FTC 22918 team.

My name is Judy Bunao — a clinical scientist, entrepreneur, and educator. Since 2016, I’ve had the joy of volunteering as a robotics parent, which eventually led me to co-found Girl Botz FTC 22918, the first all-girls robotics team at Larson Middle School.
In 2023, I was deeply honored to receive the Compass Award at the FTC State Championships. It’s a recognition I share with the incredible students, mentors, and families I’ve had the privilege to work with.
My role with the team is pretty hands-on — I help manage logistics, lead team-building sessions, educate students of the game manual, mentor students with the engineering portfolio and documentation,,organize fundraising, secure sponsorships, work on branding, write grant applications, and support both technical and outreach initiatives. I’m especially passionate about creating a team culture where students feel empowered to lead, collaborate, and stretch themselves.
One of the most rewarding parts of this journey is watching our students grow — not just as builders and coders, but as confident young leaders who care deeply about their communities and the world of STEM.
Outside robotics, I enjoy playing the piano, traveling, arts, running my own office and volunteering at my kids’ schools and at my church.

My name is Varun Jayaraman, and I am a senior at Kettering University majoring in Mechatronics Engineering. I serve as a co-coach for the GirlBotz and have been involved in robotics for over 12 years. Robotics has fueled my passion for STEM, equipping me with valuable skills that I continue to apply both in my studies and in my professional life as a co-op at Stellantis. Over the years, I've honed my abilities in mechanical design, programming, and CAD, and coaching the GirlBotz has given me the opportunity to share my passion while continuing to grow as an engineer. Outside of robotics, I enjoy playing tennis, cheering on the Detroit Lions, and both playing and watching cricket. I'm excited to keep mentoring our students and helping them develop their own skills in the STEM field.
